- What’s up with Four Year Bender - After touring the country several times with his previous band, Boomshanka, band leader Ryan Smith started from the ground up and formed “the Bender”. For the last two years they’ve been gigging consistently at such prominent settings as The Fillmore, Slim’s, and The Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park. Their latest release has been receiving unanimous praise across the board.

KFOG.com - Favorite place to play in the Bay Area?
Ryan Smith - Slim’s, and I’m not just saying that because we’re playing there on March 11th. Did I mention that we’re playing there on March 11th?
KFOG.com - What’s your favorite restaurant?
RS - Puerto Allegre in the Mission. They’ve taken steak quesadillas to a new level, and their margaritas aren’t so bad either.
KFOG.com - What’s your favorite Bay Area hang?
RS - The Zeitgeist on a Saturday afternoon after a baseball game. They have every beer imaginable, amazing barbecue, Hank Williams and Motorhead on the jukebox. It’s my version of the American dream.
